Unclip Privacy Policy

Your privacy is our policy

At Unclip, we try to keep things simple, and this starts with our privacy policy. Unclip is an app to discover, edit, and share highlights in your video. Our goal is to make it easier for you to find the best moments in your videos, so you can edit them and share them with the world. We aim to streamline the process between recording and sharing your video, and the last thing we want getting in your way are any worries about the privacy of your videos or personal information.

When you use Unclip you’ll inevitably share some information with us, and we get how this can affect your privacy. Storing and sharing video is central to Unclip’s mission; however, we will be very clear to you that we do not share anything on your behalf but rather provide you with the tools to share your videos when you want, where you want and with whomever you like. We take your privacy seriously, and we are committed to providing you with transparency into our privacy practices, which is why we have written this Privacy Policy.

In connection with the services and features we provide (collectively, the “Service”), this Privacy Policy covers Unclip’s treatment of personally identifiable information (“Personal Information” photos and videos (“IP Content”) and other data that Unclip gathers when you access the Service. By using the Service, including going to unclip.com or using the Unclip app on a mobile device, you agree to Unclip’s Privacy Policy. The Service is not available to individuals who are younger than 13 years old.

What Personal Information is collected?

Personal Information and IP Content you provide to Us

When you interact with our service, we receive and may store any Personal Information and IP Content you choose to give us. The types of Personal Information and IP Content you provide to us may include, but are not limited to, the email and password you provide for login, and the videos you upload to be stored with Unclip. Additionally, when you create clips on Unclip, we store them in your account so you don’t lose the best moments of the memories you’ve recorded. We may also receive metadata associated with video files you upload to our Service.

Information you provide is used for such purposes as enhancing the Service and our ability to make inferences about videos, in particular, which parts of a video you think are most interesting. We may also draw upon this Personal Information and IP Content in order to adapt the Service to your needs, to research the effectiveness of our network and Service, and to develop new tools for our community. Under no circumstance will any employee or agent of Unclip ever make public or share your private videos within your account unless given express consent to do so.

It probably goes without saying, but we’ll say it anyway: When you contact Unclip Support or communicate with us in any other way, we’ll collect whatever information you volunteer.

Information we get when you use our Service

When you use our Service, we collect information about how you use it, primarily to improve the experience for you and our other users in the future. Specifically, we monitor your activity through our Service to see which parts you use and how often. We collect device information about how you access Unclip, such as hardware model, operating system version, and browser type. Additionally, our Service requires us to collect videos from your device’s camera roll, so we will access your camera roll only after you give us your consent; however, it is up to you to choose which of these videos to upload to your Unclip account.

Information we receive from third parties

We may receive and store information from third parties that interact in some ways with the Service or that provide services to us in connection with the Service. In addition, you may choose to use third party apps that share with Unclip the Personal Information, activities and/or content you provide to those third party apps. Please read the privacy policy of any such app so that you understand its sharing practices.

Unclip uses certain 3rd party services such as Google Analytics, Facebook, Twitter, and Intercom, to name a few, to collect data and monitor application usage and performance. Unclip may provide your Personal Information to those 3rd party services solely for the purposes noted above.

You are always in control

The only person who can choose to share your Personal Information or IP Content is you, if you wish to share any of your Personal Information and IP Content using Unclip’s sharing features.

We neither rent nor sell your Personal Information to anyone, though we may provide aggregate, non-personally identifiable information to our partners. The default setting for all Personal Information and IP Content is to make that information visible only to you and to others in the private groups you create or join on Unclip. You may modify that setting as part of the Service. Unclip may only share your Personal Information and IP Content as described in this Privacy Policy.

The one exception: we may release Personal Information when we believe in good faith that release is necessary to comply with applicable laws, rules or regulations, including any applicable laws, rules or regulations outside your country of residence; to enforce or apply our conditions of use and other agreements; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Unclip, our employees, our users, or others.

Is Personal Information about me secure?

Your Personal Information is protected on Unclip by your email and password, for your privacy and security. To prevent unauthorized access to your account and to your Personal Information and IP Content, you must select and protect your password appropriately and limit access to your computer and mobile phone to only those individuals who you trust to maintain your privacy and security. Unclip strongly advises against sharing your password with anyone. Furthermore, while it is not currently mandatory, we strongly advise that you verify your email address with Unclip when you create your account.

Unclip endeavors to safeguard Personal Information and IP Content to ensure that information is kept private, through physical, electronic, and procedural measures. However, please be aware that despite our best efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and no method of data transmission can be guaranteed against any interception or other type of misuse.

For users located outside of the United States, note that as part of the Service your Personal Information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.

Will there be changes to this Privacy Policy?

Unclip may amend this Privacy Policy from time to time, at its sole discretion. Use of any Personal Information we collect now or in the future will be subject to the Privacy Policy in effect at the time Unclip uses such Personal Information. If we make material changes to the way we use Personal Information, we will notify you by posting an announcement on our Service or by sending you an email to the address you have registered with us. Users will be bound by any changes to the Privacy Policy when they use the Service after they have first been notified of such changes.
